Over 260 Sudanese stranded in UAE provided with food, shelter

Intense fighting has been raging in Sudan for the last 12 days now. More than 260 Sudanese nationals who came to the UAE prior to the conflict for a number of different purposes found themselves stranded in the country after the sudden closure of Khartoum Airport.

They soon ran out of funds and their visit visas expired too. But members of the Sudanese community in the UAE swiftly intervened, bringing them food and accommodation. A group has been created on WhatsApp to locate the Sudanese in need.

The stranded included sick people too, including two cancer patients who received medical treatment from Sudanese volunteering doctors and pharmacists. Coordinating with the Dubai Police and charity organisations, the community housed the people in several different places.
