Sudan Fighting: UAE hailed for its support for peace and stability in the region
A deadly conflict erupting from a power struggle between two rival commanders has been raging in Sudan since Saturday. Roughly 300 people have been killed and thousands of others have ustained injuries of varying severities.
As an internationally brokered ceasefire collapsed within minutes of its supposed start at 1600 GMT on Tuesday, scores of people decided to take the matter into their own hands and leave the capital, Khartoum.
In a recent call with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, UAE leader Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan underscored the urgent need to bring a halt to the escalation, ensure the safety of civilians, and get back on political track.
