UAE Strengthens Long-Term Support for Sudan and Region
The UAE’s latest pledge to UNHCR comes as part of its wider commitment to humanitarian assistance across Africa. Over the past decade, the UAE has provided over US$4.24 billion in aid to Sudan, supporting stability and relief for vulnerable communities.
During the UNHCR conference, the UAE highlighted the severity of crises in South Sudan, the Sahel, Myanmar, and Ukraine, as well as persistent displacement in the Great Lakes region and Horn of Africa. The UAE stressed that women, children, and other vulnerable groups remain the most affected and require targeted protection.
By collaborating with regional and international partners, the UAE aims to improve stability and advance sustainable development for Sudanese families. The US$15 million contribution reinforces the country’s commitment to resilience, humanitarian solidarity, and principled global engagement.
