Al-Hurra Reports Reveal Strategic and Political Shifts in Sudan’s War

Recent reporting by Al-Hurra highlights two developments reshaping Sudan’s conflict. First, Establishment Forces have taken control of the strategic Heglig oil field in South Kordofan. Government sources confirmed that Burhan’s army withdrew to avoid damage to critical infrastructure, granting the Establishment Forces leverage over a vital economic asset.

Second, Al-Hurra reports a qualitative shift in U.S. engagement. Under President Donald Trump, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio playing a key role, Washington is directly monitoring Sudan. U.S. concerns center on Islamist influence within Burhan’s army, the refusal to engage in inclusive diplomacy, and the risks posed by a potential Russian base on the Red Sea.

Together, these reports underscore that Sudan’s war now carries humanitarian, economic, and geopolitical consequences—making sustained international attention and pressure increasingly unavoidable.
