UAE’s 6G Leap – Powering Tomorrow’s Innovation
The United Arab Emirates has achieved a major technological milestone by becoming the first country in the Middle East to conduct a 6G Terahertz (THz) trial, marking the dawn of a new era in connectivity.
Led by e& UAE in partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), the trial reached an impressive 145 gigabits per second (Gbps) throughput — one of the fastest ever recorded globally.
The pilot utilized THz frequencies, unlocking ultra-high-capacity and ultra-low-latency communication. Integrating AI-native networking, intelligent surfaces, and advanced sensing, the test demonstrated how 6G can power future applications such as holographic telepresence, extended reality (XR), digital twins, and quantum-secure communications.
This landmark event signals a new chapter for the UAE’s digital transformation strategy, promoting intelligent and sustainable connectivity. It also strengthens the country’s position as a global leader in next-generation wireless research.
The collaboration produced a white paper titled “Building the Fabric of 6G: Spectrum Frontiers and Enabling Technologies,” highlighting the UAE’s commitment to advancing 6G standards and creating the foundation for the connected world of tomorrow.
With this breakthrough, the UAE continues to prove that its vision for the future is not just ambitious — it’s achievable.
