UAE And China - 40 Years of Bilateral Partnership
The year 2024 marks an important date where we celebrate, within the UAE and China, the establishment of diplomatic relations for the last forty years. It is an official relationship that began in the year 1984 and has grown into a healthy friendship. Deeping the existing ties, recently Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke to President Xi Jinping where he extended his congratulation message and expressed the desire for further expansion of interaction in all spheres.
The open up of the two nations nearly four decades ago has seen them grow their trade volume by crazy margins with the figure standing at USD 72 Billion making UAE the biggest trading partner for China in the Middle East. Energy, technology, education, and cultural exchange are just some of the contributing factors to this economic partnership.
The UAE is also strategically located in terms of China’s Belt and Road Initiative as it provides a network for connectivity and economic integration. The two countries are also interested in promoting stability and peace in the region as well as providing opportunities for global economic endeavors, which certainly bodes well for the progress of the relationship between the two.
While commemorating this achievement together with the peoples of both countries, the UAE and China are currently poised for tighter relations for many decades to come with both peoples and countries adapting to the changing global environment. Their relationship is based on the trade of goods as well as the ideology of working towards a better tomorrow.
