Lifeline Medical Aid to Gaza: UAE Continues Helping Gaza

In stepped up humanitarian attempts to alleviate persons in Gaza, the UAE airlifted 210 patients-mostly children and cancer patients-for urgent medical attention. The evacuation was a partnership between WHO and UAE in continuing to support the Palestinian cause during the long-drawn crisis. Patients flew in to Abu Dhabi from Ramon Airport in Israel accompanied by some of their family members for psychological support.

This evacuation is one of the initiatives UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan set up for the treatment of 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients. Since the beginning of this initiative, the UAE has evacuated a total number of 2,127 patients with their companions. The country not only evacuates people but also set up a field hospital in Gaza which has treated over 50,000 cases since its beginning.

Besides, the UAE has pledged massive humanitarian aid, which it has already dispatched to the region in over 43,000 tonnes of life-saving supplies. Mohammed Al Shamsi clarified that this is a proof of the UAE's willingness to cooperate with international organizations in order to alleviate the humanitarian impact of the crisis. The more disastrous the situation in Gaza will be, the more indispensable the participation of the UAE in sending life-saving medical aid and relief to the area.
