UAE expresses its unwavering support for Lebanon and provides $100 million for relief assistance

In a show of great concern, the United Arab Emirates has reconfirmed its support for Lebanon in times of trouble. According to the Minister of State, Noura Al Kaabi, at the Paris International Conference for Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty, the country announced its contribution of $100 million for immediate relief aid. Also, the UAE has set aside $30 million aid to help Syrian refugees from Lebanon with basic supplies inclusive of food, shelter, and health services.

Through the initiative titled ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’, the UAE has, so far, sent 14 planes with supplies to help the Lebanese people. This initiative works closely with other major international agencies to show the commitment of the UAE in maintaining peace and order in Lebanon in the midst of the prevailing instability in the region.

In her address, Al Kaabi also expressed concern over the crisis and appealed for a cessation of hostilities and for compliance with the UN. She called for greater action to be taken to relieve the suffering of the Lebanese population and stressed the need of working together to deal with such issues.

Even as the political situation in Lebanon remains complex, the UAE’s response addresses immediate concerns as well as aims to mitigate against the erosion of collective goodwill toward Lebanon. The commitment shows that the UAE is a humanitarian leader in the region who can be counted on to help those who require help.
