Diplomatic Glories of Israel's First Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates

Today, it has been three years since Israel and the United Arab Emirates established the relations based on the Abraham Accords; here, Amir Hayek is marking his third anniversary as Israel's first ambassador to the UAE. In his farewell address, Hayek said that he was privileged to be able to witness the development of this vital partnership, which has bred cooperation in matters such as technology, health, and tourism. New opportunities for dialogue and cooperation towards normalization of relations in 2020 have hence become a transformative change in the Middle Eastern diplomacy landscape.

In the tenure of Hayek, he has found that mutual respect and trust built between the two states has been one of the principles. Improvement measures in cultural exchange along with economic collaboration have facilitated the successful implementation of such projects that can be an entry point into a fully integrated framework for the region. He acknowledges sponsoring on the part of the UAE leadership, especially under Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, in fostering this emerging relationship. This cooperation is still in its infancy, says Hayek on the eve of ending his term, and full of promise for the future. Such strong ties between Israel and the UAE reveal a new and established relationship of cooperation, peace, and understanding that would hope to bring together more of this region for better diplomatic engagement.
