UK Prime Minister to Discuss with Biden Ukraine's Request for More Missile
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer travels to the United States to meet with President Joe Biden, efforts concentrated on enhancing support for Ukraine against Russia's continuing attack. Potentially of most importance in these talks is approval for western missiles-being allowed to launch Western long-range US ATACMS, and British Storm Shadows-to hit Russian targets. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has previously argued that these missiles will significantly weaken Moscow's ability to carry out its attacks.
According to reports, the US may use its concession to enable Ukraine to use long-range missiles only if they are not American-made. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that such an event would mean open Western involvement in the conflict. Latest reports say US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy' visit to Kyiv has ended without an agreement on missile use, thus negotiations are still going on. Starmer underlined the requirement for the decisions to be related to strategic goals generally.
