Linda Sun and Husband Arrested in Long Island

Linda Sun, a former aide of NY Gov. Kathy Hochul, was arrested this morning at her Long Island home. Her husband, Chris Hu, was arrested with her.

Officials clarified that these arrests were not related to her work with Kathy Hochul. Avi Small, the press secretary for Hochul, said Sun had been hired ten years ago but quit in March of 2023 following an investigation showing evidence of misconduct. The Governor’s Office reported this misconduct to law enforcement and has helped with the investigation.

According to Avi Small, “This person was hired over a decade ago. We discharged her employment in March 2023 after discovering misconduct and reported her actions to law enforcement as soon as we became aware of them.”

Sun had worked for state government for about 15 years and had most recently served as deputy commissioner for strategic business development at the New York State Labor Department. In addition, she was Hochul’s deputy chief of staff and Andrew Cuomo's former Governor office.

They did not, in fact, immediately release the specific charges against Sun and Hu. It is anticipated they will be made public later today when they make an appearance in Federal court in Brooklyn.
