Will Kamala Harris Follow Through with Biden's Policies or Take a Different Turn?
The bombshell that President Joe Biden would withdraw from the presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris obviously changed everything about the 2024 election on July 21, 2024. In light of this, the above-mentioned endorsement indeed highlighted how much confidence President Biden has in Harris with regard to her capacity to push forward the foreign policy projects of his administration and deal with other burning issues around the world and within the borders of America.
The next president, one of the big players in foreign policy in the US, is going to follow through with Biden's strategies on a lot of important things. Her administration is likely to continue the tough backing by Biden for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. That posture is likely to remain one of sharp contrast with former president Donald Trump, who has floated recalibrating the US's relationship with NATO and has raised questions about the sending of more military aid to Ukraine.
Leaving the Ukraine conflict, the foreign policy stance of Harris is most likely to align with those of Biden on China and Iran. She will also be tutored on the issue of the actions of Israel in Gaza, a very extremely controversial and internationally condemned matter. The belief that the experience and relationships with world leaders, including those within NATO, will be crucial in the issues as mentioned above, sealed the decision by Biden.
At home, huge problems await Harris, not least of which is what to do about the U.S.-Mexico border. The border has been a political red-hot button and a large part of why Biden decided he could no longer continue in office. Now, as she prepares to take on Trump—whose platform has overwhelmingly centered around his border plan—Harris needs to make the case for how she'll secure the border and deal with immigration in general.
