Iran Votes for New President

Over Iran’s nuclear programmes, the western countries are also putting pressure on Iran. The results of the fresh elections are unlikely to bring any changes in the policies of Iran, but the results of the election could impact the succession to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s leader, who has been in power since 1989.

In the last four years, voter turnout has dropped, especially among young people who are unhappy with limits on society and politics. The results of elections will come out in two days because the votes are counted by hand.
