Global debate on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was sparked by Elon Musk
A worldwide debate over electronic voting machines (EVMs) reliability started by Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, recently, on an online platform. On the prominent platform, Musk questioned the security of EVMs and recommended returning to paper voting because of fears about hacking and manipulation.
When the former technology minister of India, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, argued with Musk about his thoughts on EVMs, the debate escalated. Previously, he led its electronics and IT ministry and spoke in support of India’s EVM security features. He pointed out that EVMs for India are custom-designed, with no connections to networks, and purposely set to avoid any form of outside manipulation.
