A Personal Struggle with Heat

For More Than Forty Years Mary Carter Has Lived With The Searing Heat Of Phoenix Arizona’s Sweltering Summers. Nonetheless, Last Year She Found Herself Helpless Under A Blazing Sun As Her Air-Conditioning Equipment Failed In The Mobile Home Where She Was Staying. “In This Place If It Wasn’t For The Air There Wouldn’t Be Life,” She Said.

Mary was lucky because she got help. Through a city program she was able to get money for fixing air conditioner during hot periods meant for assisting those who cannot help themselves. Such programs are part of several initiatives being integrated by cities across the country in order to save lives and prevent people from extreme heat related issues.
