Bringing Hope and Healing: UAE's Prosthetic Limb Centre in Gaza

In a region plagued by conflict and hardship, a beacon of hope shines bright as the UAE Field Hospital unveils its Prosthetic Limb Centre in the heart of Gaza. This monumental initiative, born out of Operation "Gallant Knight 3", aims to provide holistic care and support to those affected by conflict-related injuries.

The Prosthetic Limb Centre operates in multiple stages, beginning with the meticulous process of taking patients' measurements, followed by the creation of customized prosthetic limbs tailored to their individual needs. Beyond mere prosthetics, the centre offers comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation programs, empowering individuals to reclaim their independence and mobility.

On its inaugural day, the centre served 36 injured individuals, with projections indicating that over 100 cases will be attended to within a matter of days. This swift and impactful response underscores the UAE's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian people, a commitment echoed in the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Operation "Gallant Knight 3" transcends mere medical aid, encompassing a comprehensive humanitarian effort. A convoy of 11 trucks laden with over 240 tonnes of essential supplies, including winter clothing, tents, family provisions, food items, and medical supplies, underscores the UAE's dedication to alleviating the suffering and addressing the basic needs of the Gaza population.

As of February 20, 2024, the Emirati aid delivered through Operation "Gallant Knight 3" surpassed 15,809 tonnes, facilitated by 165 cargo planes, two cargo ships, and 476 trucks dispatched to Gaza. Moreover, the establishment of six desalination plants, with a production capacity of 1.2 million gallons per day, and the dispatch of five automatic bakeries to the Egyptian city of Al Arish exemplify the UAE's commitment to sustainable solutions and long-term development in the region.
