It was amazing to report that a ‘Loss and Damage Fund’ was announced within 20 minutes of any COP28’s official opening.- The UAE did it!

The agreement was reached to operationalize the ‘Loss and Damage Fund,’ which is a critical step in tackling the detrimental effects of climate change, particularly for vulnerable nations. COP28, which began on November 30 and ended on December 12, saw the establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund, which was established at the end of COP27.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, President of COP28, urged nations to contribute to the fund, underlining its critical role in assisting people most affected by climate change. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) led the way with a $100 million pledge, with the United Kingdom ($40 million), the United States ($17 million), Germany ($100 million), and Japan ($10 million) also contributing significantly.
