‘It Is Time For Sanctions Against Israel’: Belgium Deputy PM Petra De Sutter

The deputy prime minister of Belgium, Petra De Sutter, has demanded penalties against Israel, stating that unless a genuine solution is found, the bloodshed would keep happening.

De Sutter of the Greens on X, formerly known as Twitter, stated, “Israel ignores the international demand for a ceasefire while war crimes are being committed in Gaza.”

She expressed worries over Israel’s alleged “inhumane” shelling of hospitals and refugee camps, which violates international law governing the conduct of war.

After Hamas, a militant Palestinian Islamist group, attacked Israeli cities on October 7, killing at least 1,400 people, Israel launched an unrelenting bombing of Gaza.

As of Wednesday, Israeli forces had killed 10,569 Gazans in reprisal; around 40% of those killed were youngsters, according to the health ministry in the enclave, which is run by Hamas.

Numerous nations have called for a humanitarian halt or ceasefire in response to the fighting, which represents the worst event in the generations-long hostility between Israel and the Palestinian people.
