Gallant Knight 3: First Group Of 1,000 Palestinian Children Reach UAE Hospitals
As the Israel-Hamas conflict continues, a chartered plane carrying 15 injured Gazan children and their families has arrived in the UAE for treatment. The group was evacuated late Friday when Egypt’s Rafah border crossing reopened for a humanitarian pause.
The injured Palestinians are the first of 1,000 women and children to be evacuated to the UAE under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s historic proposal, which will allow the injured in the enclave to be airlifted in for treatment at UAE hospitals.
The first group crossed the Rafah border into Egypt’s Al Arish, where they were assessed by various medical specialists from the Emirates. Meanwhile, the Emirati Red Crescent Society is constructing a field hospital near the bridge.
The UAE has flown out scores of cargo planes carrying equipment and medical supplies for the field hospital since launching its Gallant Knight 3 operation. “We’ve been preparing for this mission for several weeks,” Tarek Wahba of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City stated.
The hospital will feature 150 beds with departments for general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynecology, anesthesia, and intensive care. Specialist specialists, particularly those with experience caring with trauma patients, were chosen for the mission.
