Sheikh Mohamed At Cairo Peace Summit As Leaders Seek End To Israel-Gaza War
As the Israel-Hamas war enters its third week, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived for the hastily organized Cairo Peace Summit in Egypt.
A “humanitarian ceasefire” in the deadly conflict was requested by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who also called for “action to end this godawful nightmare” on a global scale.
Having made his comments barely hours after the first group of aid trucks entered Gaza, Guterres emphasized the urgent need for “much more” aid to be supplied there.
During a combined session of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Association of South-East Asian Nations on Friday, Sheikh Mohamed reiterated his pleas for an immediate end to the war.
He emphasized the significance of providing humanitarian corridors to convey medical and relief aid to the Palestinian area while stressing the “grave conflict” the region was now experiencing.
The president of state emphasized the importance of protecting civilian life during the conflict while expressing sympathy to the families of all the victims and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
