DeSantis says US should not accept refugees from Gaza Strip
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said the United States should not accept refugees from the Gaza Strip and called on fellow GOP candidates for president to follow suit.
“If you look at how [people in Gaza] behave, not all of them are Hamas, but they are all anti-Semitic,” the Florida governor said at a campaign event in Iowa.
“We cannot accept people from Gaza into this country as refugees,” DeSantis told the audience.
The Florida Governor argued that Arab states should accept refugees from Gaza rather than refugees being “import” to the United States.
In response to Governor DeSantis’ comments, Republican candidate for the presidency Nikki Haley, asserted that the United States has a historical tradition of recognizing the distinction between civilians and terrorists. She emphasized that this is the path Americans must follow in the aftermath of the Hamas attacks.
