Gulf War Flight BA149 Hostages Want the ‘Truth’
British Airways Flight BA149 passengers and crew members taken hostage in Kuwait in 1990 are preparing to take legal action against the UK Government and the airline.
On August 2, 1990, Flight BA149 was en route from London to Kuala Lumpur when it was forced to land in Kuwait shortly after Iraqi troops had invaded the country. There were more than 300 people onboard who were held hostage by Saddam Hussein after the invasion of Kuwait.
British Airways Flight BA149 passengers allege both knew the August 1990 invasion had begun but allowed the plane to land to install a team of former special forces and security services personnel into the Gulf state.
The British government, over the years, has denied using flight BA149 as de facto military transport. Representing a group of former BA staff and passengers who were aboard the flight, McCue Jury & Partners said “the victims are taking legal action to ensure the truth is fully disclosed, those responsible are held to account, and due compensation is paid”.
