G20: UAE Poised to Play Key Role in Connecting Middle East with World

 

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi on Friday for the G20 summit.

As the host of COP 28 in 2023, the UAE will play an important role in discussions on global climate action plans which will be discussed in the summit.

India, the US, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia are set to unveil an agreement to build shipping and railway links that will link Europe and the Middle East to India.

The plan is to create an economic corridor that links Middle-Eastern countries through rail links, which will then be connected to India through shipping lanes. The European Union will also be involved.

The joint railway project is expected to be one of the key deliverables Biden wants to present during the G20 Summit in New Delhi this weekend, the Axios report said.

Economic ties between the UAE and India have been growing in recent years. Last year in February, the two countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in order to boost the bilateral trade deal between the two countries.
