European Commission President Meets UAE President In Abu Dhabi

 

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is in Abu Dhabi for an official trip where she met the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. The EU and UAE have a long-term trade and investment relationship.

This visit focuses on strengthening bilateral relations between the European Union (EU) and the UAE, with a particular emphasis on the upcoming COP28 climate conference.

President Sheikh Mohamed reviewed global efforts to combat climate change during talks with the EU Commission President.

The two leaders also explored ways to boost cooperation between the UAE and the EU, as well as reviewing regional and international developments.

“Thank you President Sheikh Mohamed for the excellent exchanges today,” the EU President wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“We both want to make Cop28 a success and I look forward to our continued cooperation. We will work across the board to reinforce UAE-EU relations.”
