Taiwan Warns After Spotting 7 Chinese Military Aircrafts
The defense ministry of Taiwan has issued a cautionary statement regarding the potential escalation of military tensions. This comes after reports of renewed Chinese military activity near the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan, a territory claimed by China, has been subjected to increased military pressure from Beijing over the last three years, primarily manifesting as Chinese air force flights in proximity to the island.
Recently, on Tuesday, Taiwan’s defense ministry detected the presence of 12 Chinese military aircraft within its air defense identification zone, with seven of them breaching the median line. This group of aircraft included six J-10 fighters and a drone. Alongside the aircraft, five Chinese vessels conducted patrols under “combat readiness,” although the specific location wasn’t specified.
While the median line has traditionally acted as an informal boundary between Taiwan and China, China’s air force has been consistently crossing it for the past year.
