Google Doodle on Independence Day celebrates India’s rich and diverse textile traditions

 

Commemorating 77 years of India’s liberation from British colonial rule on August 15, 2023, Google, the prominent tech entity, seized the moment to observe the occasion through a distinctive doodle. This special creation showcases textiles from 21 distinct regions of the country.

Namrata Kumar, based in New Delhi, played a pivotal role in crafting this visually captivating doodle. She meticulously delved into researching and identifying India’s varied textile craftsmanship. Her intent was to pay homage to the nation’s textiles, employing the doodle as a medium to exemplify how the industry’s multifaceted nature mirrors the essence of the country.

The artist conveyed that Independence Day served as the perfect juncture to honor India’s opulent tapestry of textile traditions. She expressed her aspiration that this artistic piece would serve as a conduit to accentuate the opulent cultural legacy and remarkable artistic excellence that envelops this vibrant industry.
