Qur’an Burning: Turkey raises questions over Sweden’s reliability as a possible NATO member

Turkey's foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, has raised concerns about Sweden's reliability as a potential NATO member due to the burning of the Qur'an in the country.

Turkey has accused Sweden of being lenient towards groups they consider security threats and has been withholding approval for Sweden's NATO membership. However, Fidan stated that Turkey would approve Sweden's membership if their concerns are addressed adequately.

NATO aims to include Sweden in the alliance by July, but Turkey's approval is required. The burning of the Qur'an outside a mosque in Stockholm has complicated Sweden's application to join NATO, with Turkey accusing Sweden of harboring terrorists. Several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan, have also condemned the Qur'an burning.
