Iran’s Raisi, Emir of Qatar express support for Russia in relation to failed Wagner mutiny

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed support for the national sovereignty of Russia in separate phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, following the failed armed mutiny by the Wagner paramilitary group.

Both leaders confirmed mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia and Iran reasserted its opposition to foreign interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

The situation in Russia was deemed by Iran to be an "internal matter" of the country. The recent events in Russia, including the protests and the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, do not fundamentally change the objectives of Ukraine's Western allies
