Chenab Bridge: World’s highest railway bridge to open in Kashmir soon
The Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, is set to open soon in the northern Indian region of Kashmir. The bridge spans the Chenab River and is 1.3 km long and 359 meters high. It is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project, which aims to connect the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India by rail.
The construction of the bridge was a challenging feat, with engineers having to navigate difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Once operational, the bridge is expected to boost economic growth in the region and improve connectivity.
The bridge was expected to be completed in 2021, but there have been delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenging terrain. As of my knowledge cutoff of September 2021, the exact date of the bridge's opening was not yet announced. However, the project is expected to be completed soon, and it will be a significant engineering feat for India.
